Help installing Antennas on 2004 Impala

Post by KB9TFH1 »

I recently bought a 2004 Chevy Impala. I have three radios that I will be installing in the Car, a CDM1550, a Maxtrac and a Uniden BCT8. Now the problem I am having is that I am going to mount my antennas on the back of the car using trunk mounts but I am not sure how to get the wiring from the trunk to the front console of the car. Any help would be greatly appriciated....

Thanks

you can bring all the wires up the channel on the passenger side of the vehicle, it is at the door frame so you will need to remove the panels around the bottom of the doors, plenty of room for cables, I have 5 radios mounted in mine. You can also search for Impala installs for some ideas on my car.

Also you might consider a disquise antenna (COMPROD) for 2 of the frequencies if you want a stealth look, it would be a am/fm antenna and mount it on the back fender (passenger side) and it won't interfere with anything since the regular am/fm is in the rear window so no coupling is needed.

I can verify that ALL the radios and their antennas in USPSS's Impala work very well.

BTW, when are we going to clean out the garage????

2004 Impala Antennas

I have done close to the same thing, works beautifully.

800mhz for Spectra 800
NMO 150 for a CDM1250
Comet SBB-5 for Kenwood D700

you should be able to take out the top half of the rear seat and run the wiring through the trunk wall (usually is very open) and then down the door channels on either the passenger or driver's side. (will need to pop out the plastic door panels over the channels)

when even with the console, make a 90 degree towards it under the carpet and then slit the carpet right under where the console will be mounted and come up through with the wiring. this is exactly how i do crown vics and it should work fine on your impala.

You can also just run the wire up through the LATCH system from inside the trunk.
