motorola spectra noise on TX

motorola spectra noise on TX

i installed my first VHF 100watt A( today . when i keyed up the radio with the 1/4 wave tuned to freq it gave this horrible howl from the speaker. when i use the 3db antenna it just makes a motor boat type sound on both the speakerf as well as over the air.

the antenna is mouned on the bead rail of a chevy k2500hd just above the first stake pocket .


when the ladder rack goes back on the truck it will go to the top of the aluminum . this is were it was on the old truck and ot had a maratrac


any ideas

Move the antenna. Check it to make sure you have a good ground and good connector on it. We had a lot of problems with these on the bed and the fender. Moved them all to the roof...

thats what i figured i will see what the owner has ot ay about drillin a whole
