COR Output on SVA / ConvertaCom

Post by HumHead »

Is it possible to obtain a COR signal on the accessory connector of an SVA or MT1000 ConvertaCom?

I'm looking for a way to hang one on the accessory connector of a R1225, so that a portable can be dropped in as needed for a quick and dirty interop link.

Thanks! :D

Hi,

The SVA does have an output on the 25 pin connector that can be used for COR. I will have to find my manual to give you the exact pin out. But since the SVA uses an external amplified speaker there is a output pin that tells the external audio amplifier to turn on when audio is present from the radio. I will try to look it up tonight for you. I have used this to build a mobile repeater with an SVA.

I cannot find my manual for the SVA...but I looked under SABER I/II/III under Model Specific Information here on the board and it indicates that pin 5 goes high for carrier detect. I would double check this in a manual or test it with a multimeter. I hope this helps in your project. I will try to look for my manual again and if I can find it I will post more info here. :)

Thanks!

I wonder how I missed that on the first pass  I'll just have to check and see if it is carrier only, or carrier & PL.

Does anyone have any input on powering a portable if it's left in an SVA long term? I'd hate to see a cooked radio due to a failed cell. Perhaps gut a pack and replace the cells with a voltage regulator?

I've been seriously considering building a mobile repeater with a couple of SVAs. Do you have any documentation from when you built yours? I'd be very interested in seeing it. No need to re-invent the wheel.

SVA COR

Post by K4RUR »

Hello,
On the speaker connector on the Saber SVA PA squelch is on pin 5. I can't remember if it goes low or high. Pin 5 of the radio's universal connector is listed as N/C on the SVAs.

Take care,
