Portable repeater project and pics

I want to share pics and get some feedback on this portable repeater.

It's made in an audio case, and the panels are custom built for the various radios. It was built over the last several months by myself and batboard member Jay.

Comments, questions, etc appreciated.

Yup. Excellent.

I especially like the extra VHF radio. I had intended to include a third
radio in the Saber repeater, but got lazy and just put a plug for an
external VHF/800 Spectra.

Next time I'm going to definitely include a third radio.

Both for coordination as well as cross band patch.

Having to plug in an external radio is an added pain.

It is really cool to have it all in one neat clean package.

I like the West mountain power box. I've seen them at the Maryland Hamfest.

My portable Spectra repeaters always end up squashed into a Zero Haliburton
(or a Calzone) briefcase. I prefer that because of it's small footprint and James Bond effect.

The 19 inch rack box looks so much better and uncluttered.

Great job, I am working on something very close with 2 UHF GM300s with a 100w TPL RXR repeater amp, DB products Duplexer, and 1 VHF GM300, with 120w TPL amp, combined with a diplexer into a dual band antenna and one of "Will's" controller boxes. Right now it is rack mounted, but I want to make it portable, so if you don't mind sharing? where did you find the Portable case? I have found a 36ft telescoping mast, and Duracom 50A power supply with battery backup, so all I need is a nice case like yours, maybe a little taller and with wheels? I cheated and used the Motorola Dash mount Kits, (helps hide my sloppy jigsaw work) Ha.Ha.

I too, will post photos when I is done.

Butch, nice you should mention the Repeater/Link Module which is idealy suited to this application.

If you can, shoot some photos and post them for the rest of the BatBoarders to see. I do not have the ability to put the photos where they can be seen.

There is an interesting repeater chained to a fire hydrent at GMRS group on yahoo, in fact there are few there, I need to get a link but you may have to be a member..not sure.

Yes Will, sorry to report that we did not use one of your modules in building this portable setup. We went with stuff that was on hand, hence the different types of radios.

Someone asked about the cases...They are made by MBT cases. Here is one link, but several places sell them.

You guys did first class work on this deployable portable repeater. You put a lot of thought into the project although it would have been nice to have a multi-frequency, more than two TX and RX channels, like 6 which would work on those mobile duplexers at -70 dBm.

I know those duplexers are capable of doing multi-frequencies. Otherwise it looks as if you could give the Circle /\/\ Ranch a run for their money in their dwindling SP department!
