2002 Toyota Camry

Hi All,

I just got an 02 Camry this is what I had in mind. I am asking for comments tips and suggestions.

Remoted Sho-me siren
Whelen red/white slimlighter in the windshield behind passengers sun visor
Wig wags Whelen UHF 2150a
2 leds in the grille (not yet sure which model)
In the rear two whelen tir 3 leds r/r

Any suggestion where to put the switches and what type of 100w speaker would fit in this situation?

Good choices for the undercover covert look. I have used all three products and would definatley recommend them all. The TIR3 license plate bracket is something I have havent got a chance to see in action yet, but it looks good. The Able2 siren is good, I use one with their 100w slim speaker and it sounds great. The only downside to this siren is that the wail tone starts at the low end and cycles through like normal until you stop it and push wail again and then it starts where it left off. It kinda sounds weird when your responding but whatever. Ive always had a thing for switches hidden in center console pockets or overhead compartments with doors on them, so they too cant be seen until you need them.

The old 80 led Whelen slimlighters did provide a light with a fairly large viewing profile when viewed head on, however I did find that during the day time, sunlight tended to wash out the warning light. Also, they did not have a very good projection and dispersal pattern. By this I mean when you view the light off angle. You might get better projection and dispersal with the TIR6 version but I think you will have a lesser viewable profile. I am not sure about the TIR6 as I have not used them. May I suggest getting a Whelen Talon, the equipment is larger and probably might not be 'stealthy' enough for your application, but it does provide excellent light projection, dispersal and profile. In my opinion it is one of the best LED warning lights out there, albeit a bit pricey when compared to other lights. It is also fairly lightweight so that you could try a number of different mounting options.

Ditto on the Talon. Much better than the old style slimlighters.

I am tinking not to do the wigwags but rather install 4 strobes in all the corners. I heard that wigwags are very very hard on the Japanese cars.

Their not any harder to install than domestic cars would be, but they require a ground-side switching wig-wag module. These can be bought from Galls and others. They also provide a database of cars that require this type of module, so make sure you need it first, because not all Japaneese cars need do.

Yeah... don't forget that all the electronic sirens are emulating mechanical effects of adding and removing power to a motor-driven siren (holes drilled in a plate of metal). A real siren does start low...

So what siren do you all recommend. I would like for the siren to be remoted (if possible).

I have used Whelen's Alpha12r and Alpha12q before with great success. Also done a few unitrol's 80k and omega remotes.
