Custom Screen & DEK Box Installation

Post by Mrbmw99 »

Hi! I have been pretty busy working on my latest project. I am installing a computer and touchscreen into my truck! In order to fit the screen into my dash, the AM/FM stereo and the DEK box had to be moved. I custom molded the DEK into the bezel along with the screen. It's not finished yet - I still have more shaping to do, but I couldn't wait to post. Take a look at where I am so far (Step 7). I will post my latest (Step 8 ) in a little while when I finish that part... Let me know what you think! 8) -Brett W

Nice work. I just wish your site didn't make Norton go crazy blocking intrusion attempts. Grrrrr . . .

Can never rest when looking at the web . . .

That's weird, my new Norton Systemworks 2005 didn't show any intrusion attempts, but the Norton Antivirus 2003 on another computer did.

Oh well, guess the newer version of Norton is better at figuring out what's what.

Nice work btw, should look really nice when its done!!

Or maybe the newer version isn't AS good, eh? I hope your trust is correctly placed.

Yep, my trust is there.

Self employed and a sole proprietorship for many a year. I have been using Norton since it was in its infancy. The newest version however is smart enough to know the difference between malicious and suspicious.

Well... It's done! I have completed the fabrication on the dash bezel. It did not come out quite like I had hoped though - but its really not bad for my first one! I might end up making a new one in a few months.... Take a look and let me know what you think! -Brett W

Take a look at the last two folders I just added, numbers 11 and 12.

I checked out those latest pics, WELL DONE!!

I love the look of it with the DEK, looks like it was always meant to be molded right in there. Looks as nice as a factory navigation screen, though your is capable of so much more than just showing maps!

Was that LCD display expensive?

Yeah... It could have come out better - you get what I was shooting for though. The DEK did turn out pretty good as well. The screen came in it's normal enclosure and came with remotes and cables for $258 (incl shipping). It is the touchscreen as well. I like it though! It really is capable of a lot being that it is a whole computer system. -BW

If I were a member there, I would, but I'm not, so I can't, at the moment. If you are, you can tell a few people if you want.
