6m NMO antenna?"

Post by radiokid »

I am going to be putting a X9000 Low Band for 6m in the Aurora, what kind of NMO antenna do you suggest? I have seen Maxrad, Antenna Specialist and others but what last and performs well. I am not worried about looks either, because there is a 118Mhz 1/4, Dual Bander, and 2-5/8 VHF High Band antennas on this car. I have the NMO drilled in the trunk of the car for the antenna so it stable. Thanks for the help. I enjoy this board very much. Radio Kid

I have Larsens that have been out in the weather for 20 years. That's a strong enough testamonial for me.

I have an NMO-50B. I haven't used it yet, but it's mounted in the car.

What radios do you own?: W7 FPP lowband MaraTrac w/AES

Currently using an Larsen NMO150B for lowband. A VHF-Hi 5/8w will resonate in the 6m band as a 1/4w. Where it is tuned for 146 MHz depends on where it is usable at 52 MHz.

Works great, SWR is under 1.6:1 for the FM part of the band I need. I use it solely for 52 MHz, so it is tuned accordingly. I have a twin for 146 MHz that I've had for years with no problem.

I was going to use a MaxRad, but I've had 2 now that the center contact has broken off.
