UHF cell phone look alike antenna

Post by fd2119 »

Can anyone recommend a good UHF cell phone look alike antenna for 450-500 mhz, as well as dealers and prices? I'd be using this on my MTVA.

Thanks in advance!

Hello Doug,

Here's a couple of websites for antenna manufactures with creative mobile products. Both of these suppliers have good reputations in the Land Mobile Radio industry.

http://www.sti-co.com/
OR
http://antenex.com/

I wasn't absolutely sure what you meant by the "UHF cell phone look alike antenna" which could mean just about anything manufactured today. I believe most cellular phones are the small handheld portables. Possibly you were referring to the whip style with a center phasing coil or the small type that are manufactured by AllGon.

I've read that Antenex manufactures a small antenna that has +3 dB Gain and is whipless. I've heard many good things about these antennas and they can be used in many different applications.

Hello Doug,

Whoops! The Antenex website should read as:

http://www.antenex.com/

That was my typo error.

I would think a 1/4 wave spike is small enough to be pretty stealthy, if that's what you're trying to achieve.

The best 1/4 UHF antenna that I have seen is a 1/4 glass mount from AS and then a Fake plastic 3bd (closed coil) cell whip but is hollow and all you have to de it cut the tip off the real antenna and then slide over the real thing.

After tell you about this I can't tell you where to but the fake plastic bit, sorry.
