Gamber Johnson buys out Scientific Dimensions

Post by apco25 »

I missed this back in November when I ordered some GJ stuff.

Gamber-Johnson LLC Acquires Assets of Scientific Dimensions (SDI)

Stevens Point, Wisconsin (November 9, 2004) - Gamber-Johnson LLC, a preeminent leader in the design and manufacture of vehicle mounting systems and mobile docking stations announced today that it has acquired the assets of long standing and respected competitor, Scientific Dimensions (SDI), a privately held, New Mexico corporation. Per terms of the agreement, SDI operations in Albuquerque will be maintained and renamed Gamber-Johnson Southwest Regional Operations. Joe O'Connell, former president of SDI, will serve as Business Relations Manager.

"The acquisition of SDI by our most respected competitor in this industry marks the end of a great era for SDI, but opens a new chapter of growth and opportunity for Gamber-Johnson" stated O'Connell. "This is the right decision, at the right time and for all the right reasons. We are honored to become a part of the Gamber-Johnson organization."

"This development presents a great opportunity to expand and grow our ever increasing presence in the mobile computing market space", according to Jeff Greene, president of Gamber-Johnson. "Philosophically, our two companies operate similarly in many respects. Combining the knowledge, experience and product offerings of these two great companies will offer our mutual customers an even stronger value proposition in the months ahead."
Since many of us use both companies products I thought this was worth posting.

Gamber-Johnson LLC is an ISO 9001:2000 certified company celebrating 50 years in business in 2004. The company is widely known for providing high-quality vehicle mounting systems, computer mounts, and mobile docking stations for commercial and industry use. In addition, the company introduced the VersaTrue product line earlier this year, a direct-to-consumer mounting system for lighter weight applications.

SDI, founded in 1968, has extensive industry expertise providing mounting hardware for all types of mobile environments. Some of SDI's more successful products include the slide mount, Goosnek (flexible pedestal mount) and OEM docking stations for Itronix, Motorola and Fujitsu. The strategic asset purchase of SDI enables Gamber-Johnson to continue its business expansion into the mobile docking station market.

I think the SDI console we use sucks, but that is just me. Very user-unfriendly and dumb looking.

Oh well, state low bid.

SDI does make some nifty consoles, specifically the van or command size units. Their standard racks and consoles are very industrial and basic in design and do leave much to be desired.

Our SO uses them and have some of the worst looking interior setups around here.
