Motorola "Dispatcher" Console

Post by rescuelt »

I have the chance to by a Motorola Dispatcher console, Model B1630A, it is worth anything? The unit itself works, but can it be hooked to external radios, does it make tones, what does it do... Any input would be great.

Thanks

most consoles generate QCII tones, however depending on the age of the unit, it may be entirely obsolete.

The Dispatcher is a small version of the Centracom II console comprised of a single "Compact" operator position and a one card cage CEB that was installed in a small cabinet that looks like an MSF5000 base station.

You need both pieces - the op position and the CEB in order for it to do anything useful. If you have both pieces, any radio shop that is set up to program 6809 CCII systems can read the its personality PROM and tell you how it is configured, i.e. DC control, tone control, button functions, etc.

As a member of the CCII family, the Dispatcher can be programmed to do anything its full sized relatives can do including multiple paging formats, aux-I/O controls, comparator display, etc.
