whelen tir3 leds
Holy freakin crap. I just bought 2 tir3s whelen leds mounted on the grill. They are so freakin bright you cant even look at them. My dodge dakota has a blue/blue talon above the mirror tir3 led blue/blue on the grill, strobes in the amber corners an a blue deckblaster modified to a remote powersupply. it litterlly is so bright i think i might have to remove the deck blaster so i dont kill someone. Just though i would let everyone know. go buy a set.
They are a damn amazing piece of warning equipment. The best part about them is the sync ability. You can get all the fancy patterns and not need an external power supply or flasher.

Has anyone played with mounting two TIR3s either end-to-end (ending up with almost a dual-head TIR6) or side-by-side? Is my understanding correct that Whelen makes brackets to mount a pair of these lights in this fashion? Any ideas on part numbers?
I'm in need of better intersection protection, and have seen excellent results from mounting lights on the side of the pushbumper, facing left and right (so when you nose out into an intersection just a hair, you have those lights directly in the faces of the drivers). I'm thinking a red and a blue synced on each side would look really nice - thoughts? I'm allowed to run any color, so that's not an issue.

Look at the bottom for the brackets Whelen makes for them. If you are side mounting them, you shouldn't need any brackets. You can just mount them on the side face of the push bumper.

Yep, seen those. What I was looking for was a "surround" that would make the two lightheads look like a single unit, just for neatness' sake. I admit, I'm a neat freak when it comes to my truck. Sounds like I should just get out the drill and be careful...nmfire10 wrote:http://store.yahoo.com/sirennet/newwhtisuled.html

Not sure if it's what you're looking for, but Havis makes brackets for the TIR3s. Look at their 'new products' section. They have a universal bracket that allows you to mount the TIR3s next to your license plates. The also have brackets that allow you to stack multiple modules atop of one another.

TIR3 Crown Vic bracket
Does anyone know if a Havis Crown Vic license plate bracket for the TIR3 would work on a '00 Taurus? Thanks for any and all input!

I was browsing "Fire & Safety Outfitters" web site and they have "new" Predator II LED lights; claim they are generation IV - is that true? What is new about the Gen IV's???
ANyone have or use a Predator II??

I've heard good things about the TIR3s - but do they do a decent job of piercing (factory) window tint? I'm thinking these would be great for mounting in the rear window of my truck because I could easily design a custom bracket... plus the price cannot be beat for a poor college student such as myself...

Charlie... I have a friend who's selling a red/clear slimlighter TIR6 for nicely under $200
I demoed it today.. and wow.
I have 20% tint and only thing that pierced it well was FedSig SML1 halogens.
The TIR6 slimlighter (and TIR3s would too.. same thing) punched through much brighter than the halogens and kept their pure color. While I was holding it up, I could see my friends fire jacket being reflected on across the street. You won't be disappointed.

The Talons use an older design, 8 linear leds. Very bright head on as well but the talons have the widest off axis viewing angle of any led because of their design.fireradio wrote:Awesome! Glad to hear... just out of curiosity, anyone know how the TIR3s compare to a Talon?
Likewise, the Slimlighter M/TIR6 packs the brightest dead on punch, but with lesser off axis angles.
TIR3s, IMO, have a better off axis angle vs the slimlighter because the TIR3s have a protruding lense.

The problem with the older Talons was that they tend to cause RF interference in alot of radio equipment. Whelen has just come out with a new model to correct this problem, but I have been waiting for over 3 1/2 weeks for an order of blues that we put in. I will let you all know when they finally arrive.
