Headset Adjustment on Centracom Gold Elite Consoles

Post by detblow »

Does anyone have experience adjusting the headset levels on the Centracom Gold Elite consoles? The manual indicates setting to a specific dB, but I'm not having any luck. Please contact me if you have had any success in doing this. My dispatchers refuse to wear their headsets because the phone/radio levels are so uneven.

Thanks...

All of our installations have independent level controls on the headset jack box for radio and phone headset audio. We have never had to adjust the CIE levels.

What radios do you own?: The best that low bid can buy.

is this a CRT console, or one of the older Button & LED?

If this is the CRT system, the ones we use have manual mechanical/pot adjustments on the Plantronics P10 adapter/receptacle for headset volume and mic gain. We don't mess with the CIE either.

There are several things you can do to equalize the volume levels in the CIE. In particular, there are two blue stand-up type pots and several jumper settings. I don't have the manual in front of me to give you exact numbers, but they are not hard to find.

If your system was staged by Motorola at the factory or set-up in the field, you probably wouldn't ever need to bother with these. However, if you ordered a new console later on to add to an existing system, it likely wasn't set-up correctly. I have had to set up several of these 'add-on' consoles, without proper set-up, the phone side usually does sound like crap.

I honestly don't know if I'll find the time to look at a manual & post the jumpers & pots in the next several days, but I'll try.

These are newer CRT consoles. I have found the pots and the manual which indicates the desired levels but it doesn't say where to measure. I assumed a measurement at the connector where the phone TX & RX comes into the CIE but the levels are nowhere close, and don't come close when I adjust the pots.

The pots have been messed with by at least one previous phone tech so if they were set up by Motorola, they're messed up now.

Am not aware of any jumper settings. I'll recheck the manual.

Any help appreciated....

Thanks!
