Radius M10 Conversion..

Post by Rayjk110 »

Hello. I currently have a Motorola Radius M10 (M33XVC20F2AA) 1 Channel VHF Mobile. I am currently looking to make it do more channels. How would I go about doing this? I have never converted a radio to anything before, so I am clueless. If I were to put a GM300 Head on it, would the Monitor button work, woulod it display ch 1-8? Or does this need to be done thru hex editor? By the way, the radio is 16 Pin Accy. connector.

Thanks for any help. Ray.

Yes,you could hex it.Read up on it here in the "model spec."section.You probably can make it do 16 chann.w/scann.Print out the section :adding chann.in the MDF.file.BE VERY CAREFUL!!!!!!

Alright, sounds good. Thanks. What versoin of software would be needed to do programming on this radio? (NOTE: I am not asking for software here) As in what version/part number?

I use (R05.00.00) for the gm300.I t will also do M120 etc.Remember :do not use a control head from Radius or Maxtrac.Read the Model specs. carefully!Or as they keep saying"You'll have a papper weight"

Ok. But wouldn't you want to use a control head from a Radius? I mean the M10 is in the Radius series, so I would think that's what you would use. What other head would I use?

If you look at the maxtrac/Radius control head, you will see 2 gray wiresW/small white plug at end .This is the speaker wire. The M10 & GM300 series do not have this .It's in the 2 plugs

Alright. So, to sum this up, would I have to modify a GM300 head?

NO!!! Just unscrew the front, pull fowards, unplug the 2 plugs, and plug in the GM 300 head.Do Not Force The Plugs!!!!!!Watch the pins!!!Until you "hex"the MDF,it will only display #1

Once you setup the logic board for a full feature front display it will.
