I completed an install this week on a 2004 Chevy Tahoe. This vehicle is for the North Carolina Department of Insurance Office of the State Fire Marshal Deputy Director. I was real pleased with the results.
For those of you who were following my previous post about removing the cup holder from the front seats, here are the details. It was a pain in the rear to remove!!! It is pop riveted from the bottom to the seat frame. I was able to pull back the center seat coushin and drill the pop rivets from the top, you end up tearing the seat material slightly from underneath, but it does not hurt anything and is not visable from the top. The foam material is so strong that it is extremely difficult to hold the coushin back and drill at the same time. I highly reccomend having someone help you. One thing is for sure, Chevrolet put this thing on there to stay. It aint gonna fall off.
Below is a list of the equipment I put in the Tahoe.
Havis-Shields 13" Consolidator Console
CDM1550 VHF Mobile w/ 1/4 wave antenna
Galls Siren
Galls switch box
Streamlight Stinger and Streamlight SL-20X Flashlights
Tomar Dash LED Light
2 bumper mounted Red strobes
10 clear hideaway strobes
3 strobe power supplies

Thats a nice clean install. The part i like the best is how you tucked the equipment into the rear compartment. Out of the way, completely hidden, yet easily and quickly accessed for repair. The rear flashlight was a nice touch too.
You didn't take up any of the rear cargo space for the install, another plus. Too often i see the radios bolted to a board or the floor behind the last seat. Granted your not using any remote mount radios, but i just wanted to point that out.

Duct tape is like the force, it has a dark side and a light side and it holds the universe together.

Very nice install
I'm impressed how clean it turned out after removing the cupholders. I've had serious issues in the past with factory consoles being rivited in place with 5/16" diameter hardware. An absolute pain to drill out. Usually requires a die grinder to remove.
I'll dare ask but who's choice was the Galls equipment? Just curious; I've tried to avoid the entire Galls=truck on fire debate for quite some time.
