HT1250 Scan Problem

Post by pfdunit138 »

Hello...

My fire department recently purchased a batch of HT1250 radios and the CPS software. The radios were programmed with the priority channel dictated by the channel knob selector, with a priority sample rate of 750ms. When the radio is placed in scan mode, it scans correctly until a signal is found on a non-priority scan channel. At random times during the non-priority transmission, the radio will emit the priority "beep" and switch to the priority channel, even though there is nobody talking on the priority channel. It will remain there for the 3000ms hang time, then switch back to the transmission on the non priority channel, then go back to the priority with the "beep" again, and so on. This happens when the priority is set to any channel.

Any ideas??

Thanks,
Jason

Be sure the scan mode requires PL on the priority channel and uses the function "Priority Channel Marking." You might also check the CSQ squelch of the portable.

RKG: what exactly do you mean when you say check the "CSQ sqelch"...is that the tight/normal setting?

I think that 3 sec is tooooo long for hang time, also.
When somebody is yapping away 8 miles away, you might miss something that IS important that your priority misses (or isn't in priority).

Make sure that your priority chanel has a PL/DPL on receive if necessary or you might just be detecting "hash", EMI or other interference that activates priority receive.
