Design guidance...

I have a '93 Chevy Suburban and I am ready to make this into a functional vehicle. The only radio that I currently have my car is a Kenwood V7A. My goal is to replace that radio with motorola.

Of course, I have the general idea of what I want to do, but the practical knowledge is lacking. The Suburban is very stock, and I am looking to make great things out of it.

Although I have had my eye on Spectra radios to cover my need for coverage of VHF (136-174), UHF (440-470), 800MHz, 900Mhz, I am not married to those particular models. As long as I can cover the bands that I am looking for. I also need to be able to implement PAC-RT for using my Sabres for crossband control.

I am looking for ideas on what equipment to add, how to design a functional console to replace to stock console. What I should be doing to enhance the power needs. The ability to program alll radios directly, and the use of a single microphone to control all radios.

Oh, and the key thing is that I would like to have qualitty, but as someone pointed out... This is a hobby, so I would like to minimize costs or at least reasonable cost...

I'm not sure about how to mux all of the mics, but you can easily combine all the radio speaker outputs into one.

I've used these a bunch of times before and they really work great. The audio will be much louder and you will only have to have one speaker. Makes for a clean install.

You should also check out a previous post where a user did a great job installing a console in a suburban. One of the best jobs I've ever seen, and he's done alot of what you want to do (bringing out the programming ports, etc. )
