It wasn't bambi. It was bambi's father. Most of him is still on the side of U.S. Route 150, if you want him.

I checked out the site, and I do find some of the contect pretty darn funny, however, at least with this car, its all for real and there is no wannabe operating it. This is a first responders car used to respond the MVA's, Medical Emergencies, and other Fire/Rescue call in its "First Due" area. The Kenwood TK780 is a professional use radio, used with emergency fire and rescue freq's.

But really, the site is pretty funny, I know that I have a hoppy and some interests, but now i can tell my friends that if I ever start becoming one of "those guys" they can kick my a$$.

how is your visibility out that back window with that much stuff on the deck?

and...a nice slick custom switchbox would look better than that galls stuff...

Not that I am doubting you, but are you sure that's a Whelen Arrow stick? Looks like a Federal from outside the glass...

Either way, yeah, I would have seen with something a little thinner for the rear deck, but really a good job on the install.

You know you're right, what a first impression -- It is a Fed Sig Arrow Stick, and yeah, something thinner would have been nice, I don't know why the owner didn't keep everthing the same, i mean there is flahsers, LEDs and stobes, but thats just me.

Why would there be desense issues on the Kenwood?

Looks good, espeically using the floor shifter console. I wouldn't use those blue switch packs from galls but that's just me.

Only thing I would have done differently in this setup is since the vehicle is a civie model with with the wing and such why not keep it as civilian looking as possible?

Why the 9C1 rims? I'd have left civie rims on it as well to keep the profile low. The LED mirror beams probably aren't even noticed by non public safety people,

Still, quite a good job.

Just a personal thing, and I find this is stuff where some person who is paying the outfitting company says "oh, i want this."

WHY do you run out, buy a nice LED setup for above the rear view mirror and THEN install one of the biggest, ugliest traffic directors?

WHY!!!!!!

Sorry - i know that this is usually not the fault of the installer, but the purchaser. Mainly an observation on my part. You can get TD28's so cheaply, and they are very low profile!

(and my comments echo those as above too!)

my opinion is.. Someone wants to pay for it I will install anyting within reason..

Not a bad install for what you have to work with.

Question.. the car has Wisconsin tags and you are from Mesa Az? long way for a install job..

did you cut the dash trip to wedge that uniden in there?

wouldn't it have worked the same way if you switched the gallsbox / uniden scanner thingy? or is there som other reason the uni is on top?

Its the galls dual self contained strobe w/ Red/Clear -- its mounted right to the frame, so when someone gets into the back seat, you have to duck below the light -- but with this owner, no one gets into the back, not until he gets a cage, j/k

And the reason the switch box is below the scanner is that the opening in the console gets wider as you move up -- so to put the switchs on to you'd have to cut a wider hole for the scanner on bottom.

Whenever possible I always suggest a better combination of products if what the customer wants or supplies isn't going to look or work right.

Sometimes you just can't reason with them. Just part of the job.

At first I thought I was seeing things and my now-sold 2002 Impala LS was haunting me:

Image

That said, mounting stuff in that car sucked. I had a 110w A9 Spectra and a Uniden BCT7. I had a 35w C9 800 county radio (legit, btw) in there also, but due to size constraints I removed it in favor of using a portable.

I had to make a custom bracket for the A9 head, and bolted the scanner to the inside of the cubbyhole.

My rear lights were a pair of SML-2's over a SML-8, and I couldn't see crap out the back window. I took them all out, went to LED's and removed the rear spoiler until I sold it.

It was a cool car when I saw it several times.

I haven't forgotten about the SDI parts either.
