Wireline card for MTR2K zapped

Post by Equinox »

Lightning (likely) got the wireline card for an MTR2K VHF repeater. Pulled the card, and the repeater function is still okay for mobiles. It appears two chip resistors on Line 2 are burned- no other obvious damage. We have no manual. If we sent this card to the depot would they even try to repair it? My limited experience has been that if they suspect lightning damage they won't even attempt a repair, but will just say trash it. Is there an online print of this board so I could find the values of the two resistors?

Spend the $500.00 and buy a new one. I would not trust a damaged wireline card.

It usually is the zero Ohm chip resistors that blow. Replacing these with a small fuse may let you use the board for a couple more hits.

Thanks for the replies. We decided to eliminate it altogether and installed a little control radio at their office.
