Has anyone played around with the Havis Shields laptop mounts?
I've decided on their 30" enclosed console for the new truck. However, I'm still trying to figure out what I want to do for a laptop mount. The computer will be a Toughbook CF-28 (13.3" LCD) in a Kodiak docking station.
Havis makes a few mounts that bolt to the side of the console, but I'm a bit wary of having that much weight hanging off the side of the console. Since I'm using such a long console, I don't think the gas shock style system is going to work (not enough real estate on the transmission hump). That leaves me with the mounts that come up off the passenger seat bolts.
My big concerns are 1. stability and 2. intrusion into the passenger space. This is my POV, and, while I want functionality, I want any riders to be comfortable as well.
The truck in question is a 2005 F-350 Super Duty 4x4 diesel.
Thoughts, comments, criticism, etc. please? I'm open to looking at other manufacturers (been using Gamber Johnson for many years with no problems, but they don't make a 30" long one-piece console).

That's what I've got right now - actually, they are the old pre-EPIC style consoles, but I've got an 18" and a 14" back-to-back on the floor. However, I'm a picky bastard and want to get rid of the "gap" in the middle. Plus, the Havis 30" is taller, which makes it a better fit, and wider to allow a PRO-2096 to fit without having to cut the rails (like we had to do with a Gamber console).
