HT1000 programming problem

Post by Andy2712 »

When trying to read or program my HT1000's I keep getting a error message that says:

TSR background program interference
Temporary high noise/traffic level

Why do I keep getting this? Can anyone help me out? Thanks.

ARE YOU RUNNING THE PROGRAM IN REAL DOS? YOU GET THAT MESSAGE WHEN YOU OPEN A DOS SCREEN IN WINDOWS AND TRY TO RUN IT.

As HLA asked, are you running it in true DOS, or a 'DOS Window' under some flavor of Windows? Either way, it is telling you that you that a TSR, or Terminate and Stay Resident, program is interfering with the RSS. A TSR is a program that, even though it has been 'terminated', is still 'resident', or loaded in memory.

If you are in true DOS, at a guess, I would have to say that you probably have a mouse driver loaded into memory. If you see any messages while the system boots about a mouse, this may well be the problem. Try disabling the 'auto-load' of the mouse driver, and see if it helps.

If you are in a DOS Window under Windows, you are running a very strong risk of turning your HT into a doorstop. Do not ever, EVER!, try to use DOS-based RSS under any flavor of Windows, not ever with the 'Shut Down and Restart in MS-DOS Mode' located in the shutdown options.

Hey Jeff,

Is your CAPS LOCK key broken on your computer??????

It is considered SHOUTING when you type in all caps.

The HT1000 RSS is designed to run only in pure DOS, no windows anywhere. Other causes are improper levels from the RIB back to the computer, improper RS232 chip timming in the computer. Even a Motorola factory RIB can have these problem and only on certian computers.
