R100 Repeater - Disable DPL ??

Post by N4YAV »

I'm kinda new with the Moto stuff.. I have a UHF Radius R100 Repeater that is set up to use DPL. I'd like to disable it completely and use carrier only. The Moto model is H5016B. The service manual I have doesn't show this setup, the manual is much older. Can someone detail the process to disable the DPL (at least on RX anyway.)

Thanks,
Mark

Mark,

I beleive that you need the programming software and cables to unprogram the DPL on the Rx side.

You may desire to change the Rx to PL since repeaters must in part 90 and should in part 97 (ham) use some sort of CTCSS.

Good Luck, Bob

R100 Repeater - Disable DPL ??

Yes, I agree on the use of a PL tone. My intension are to use 131.8 instead of a DPL code.

Look at the board mounted to the cabinet lid. There are places to add monitor switch and repeat defeat switch. Jumper the monitor connections or order the slide switch from Motorola. This will put the receiver into carrier squelch mode. It may not let the unit repeat on carrier squelch.

hello operator... ?

FYI

DPL models of the R100 *CANNOT* be reprogrammed or changed to PL operation.

PL units *CANNOT* be changed to DPL operation.

what you have is what you got....

as for changing the unit to CSQ ops... never tried that... but i don't think the unit will repeat.... but then again, it's just a maxtrac in a box.... can't be too hard

To change a R100 from DPL to PL you have to change the microprocessor and capacitors in both transmitter and receiver. There is a bulletin with details. The best way would be to install a Communications Specialists encode-decode board. They may have instructions. You could also use instruction sheets from any one of several that explain adding a multi-user tone panel to the R100.

Arlo IS correct. Just disable the DPL in the RSS, and add the CommSpecs PL board.

Well partially true, it IS a German Maxtrac in a box.
Very fine radio. The R100 was made in Germany by Motorola in the late '80's early '90's.

Use the Search function here for a whole lot more information on the R100.
