back-up flashers

Post by topcop1833 »

in ref to fords inablility to have back-up flashers, i pondered about a solution, this is what i've got. use a 4 pin 12v normaly closed relay, conect pins 2 and 4 as a switched power source to the brake light(s), run another switched (from a switch box) 12volt power souce to pin 1 and connect 3 to the tail light. flip the switch on the switch box and turn on the hazard lights, and presto.... right? the brake light flashes and is activated, ensureing the relay remains open, when the brake light goes offf the relay clses and activates the tail lights. the switch box allows the tail lights not to flash when the brake lights come on (ie routine usage). i guess if there was a way to tap into the switch for the hazard lights, then the user would not have to remember to flip the switch and the hazards to make it work. all this would prevent the possibility of the gear shifter being moved since no input is being pushed back to the computer.... i think. i've been off base on a few things and this may be one of them.
and if this seems way off, has anyone tried stobes in the back-up light and brake portion of the 02 taurus?

Strobes in the backup and brake portion of the 02 Taurus

Post by fd2119 »

I have a 2K Taurus, and have installed hide-a-ways in the blank portions of the tail lights (directly below the STT lights, and next to the back up lights), and they are quite effective. Additionally, there is no light there except for the strobe tube, and the reflector is contoured nicely to reflect the light. Very effective.
