Whelen Liberty Install

So my campus security dept got a Whelen Liberty LED lightbar donated to us. The problem is, we are so under budget we don't have the money to pay a professional installer. Question is, how hard would this to be to install ourselves? It is going on a minivan that currently has a cheap POS lightbar installed. Would it be as simple as disconnecting the old bar and plugging in the new one? We don't have it yet so I can't take a look at the connections, it will be here in a couple weeks.

is it full size or mini
full size does it have matrix swiching or serial comms

also the cables will come out the passanger side of the bar. unlike the older bar so more holes.

take the 2 power cables to go battery and ground "+" tru a fuse and then sich wich lines u want with low current

Full size bar with alley lights, take down lights, and rear traffic director. The Whelen rep asked if we were going to have it installed professionally or do it ourselves. He said it would matter...something about digital? I told him we didn't have the money to pay to have it installed and he said that wouldn't be a problem. I am hoping that is the case...

it may ber serial eather way easy to hook up

If the bar has "SC" in the model name such as Ultra SC, Freedom SC blah blah, you need a MPC01/02/03 controller for it to work properly. If it is a LC style bar, you are good to go with a normal switch panel of your choosing.

If its the LC series (most likely) this is the install guide you want to use.

Thanks for the link PJ. I hope it is an LC series. I assume that is what he was refering to when he said it would be $500 to install a digital one or else the regular one we could install ourselves. We seriously have zero extra $$.

If you already have the bar, I am not sure what the guy you are working with is doing. If someone gave you $$$ to buy a bar, that's different. In either case, you want the Liberty LFL LC series bar.

We currently have a cheap POS bar with no options (alley lights, takedowns,ect). Not fun to work at night with only a flashlight. I ended up getting the Liberty bar donated to our dept. It is going to be here in a couple weeks, I am just trying to plan ahead on how we are going to install it, since we have zero dollars in the budget for stuff the college deems unnecessary (according to them our current lightbar is fine and we don't need anything else

).
