Motorola CDM1250 not transmitting DPL tone.

Post by WKRP »

I am interfaceing an external device to a CDM1250 through the accessory connector. I have configured one of the programmable pins for "external mic PTT". I have programmed personalities to transmit DPL tones. However when I key the radio using the external mic PTT it does not transmit the DPL tone. If I key up with a microphone plugged into the front jack the DPL tone is transmitted.

Am I missing something in the programming, or is this how the CDM1250 is suppose to function.

Thanks.

I believe there is a setting in the configuration menus for PL/DPL on external PTT. This would be so you can for example transmit voice with DPL and data from GPS or modem or something without DPL. Or maybe I am thinking of Kenwood. I don't have the CPS in front of me here.

Me: "What exactly is a 900Mhz UHF CB?"
Them: "A very nice CB at 900Mhz speed!"

The only configuration settings that I can find that I beleive would affect this are:

Personality- Basic Tab: You select the squelch code (TPL) then enter in the TPL freq and/or code.

Radio Configuration - Accessory Pins Tab: Program pin for Ext Mic PTT (I used pin 14, Active level-low, no debounce). The acess pkg - default

Radio Configuration - Accessory Configuration: Program Ext PTT Audio Source for Ext Mic & Flat TX.

The external audio is connected to pin 2 (External Microphone Audio).

I just figured out the problem, sometimes you need to write these things down so it will hit you in the head!!

Anyway, if you program the Ext PTT audio source for "Ext Mic Audio" only it transmit the PL tone.

I guess because, according to the help explanation,

(Ext Mic & Flat Tx: Both inputs are enabled simultaneously.)

PL tones are not transmitted.

Yep, you got it. If 'flat tx' is chosen, no PL or DPL is generated.
