This forum is dedicated to helping people with questions about installing radio equipment in vehicles. This can include antenna installs, electrical wiring questions/problems, and mounting systems. Pictures of installs are welcome.
Note: Discussions regarding lighting, sirens, and other equipment now has its own forum in the 'off-topic' section below.
Yeah the t-tops squeek in there with like 1 mm of space between the spectra there is no other place to mount this thing. If I mounted behind the back seat I would risk punching a hole in the gas tank
That's almost exactly like DPS in Texas does it in their camaros. They have 2 toggle switches on the side for the lightbar and wigwags, then a controller on the right side of the console for the arrowstick on the lightbar.
My only suggestion would be to do like I have done on numerous cars and they do on their camaros. Mount the speaker under the dash pointing to the floor or towards the driver. You don't loose much audio and it moves one more thing out of the way.
I normally take a 4 foot long heavy duty tie wrap and go around a brace and the speaker and put it up there. Have both of my speakers for the radios in my truck like that. I have no problem hearing either one of the radios.
when you say below the dash do you mean below the dash just over the hump behind the cdplayer console etc? do you have a pic of where they do by any chace.. as you can see mine is right on the plastic so my right leg can have a leg rest
I don't have a camera so I can't take a picture, but I mean behind the dash, behind the plastic. If you lay on your back on the floorboard you can see up under the dash. I normally put mine to one side or the other of the steering column. All cars have some sort of brace that runs from the driver's side to the passenger's side to stabilize the front. This brace normally is a good place to tie off to. It takes some working to get the speakers past the wires normally, but it makes for a cleaner install in my opinion.
