Call Alert with Voice

Post by Sergey »

Hi,

is anybody knows how it's working....I can not find any discription of the procedure.
Also I would like to get any information about "long" & "short" Call Alert.
What does it mean?
Thanks

It depends a bit on which radio you are talking about. "Call Alert with voice" means the radio will alert when paged, and then go into monitor mode so you can hear the dispatcher voice message. You can generally program the radio to manually reset with a button press, or reset upon carrier drop-out.

I'm not sure what you mean by 'long' and 'short' call alert.

Todd,
Thank you for the message. But I still don't understand all settings of that feature....
I'm playing with HT1250 and HT1550. I have ability to chose the type of Call Alert as Call Alert/Call Alert with Voice. In both cases I can reset upon carrier drop-out and when I can hear voice of dispatcher. I don't see any difference between Call Alert With Voice and just simply Call Alert. What is a difference?

Second question.
I guess that in a "long Alert", MDC message includes the sender's indentification, but a "short" call only contains the alert....
Is this correct?
Thanks

Are you able to hear regular carrier on the channel even if you haven't been alerted? It sounds like you have the signalling squelch set to "OR" instead of "AND".

I don't have the CPS in front of me to answer your 'short' and 'long' question right now.

Todd,
You are right. It is OR...

Yep, set it to "AND" for proper operation. The regular "Call Alert" will cause the radio to emit an alert tone and that's it. It'll sound the alert every 10 seconds until you reset it. "Call Alert with Voice" will only sound an alert once, and then unmute for the voice.

everything works fine! Thanks Todd!
I have one more question about MDC functions.
Which Motorola radio has ability to do re-group of users?
Thank you.
