IF using the RIBless cable for the HT750/1250 series, what else is needed to perform the firmware or flash upgrades? What is needed to use the RIBless for doing this on the CDMs also?

Hi:

Flashing the 750/1250 Series not only
requires Special Software, but a Smart
Rib, and Rib to radio Cable.

Unless you had many to do, I would STRONGLY
recomend Motorola for your upgrades.

My HT1250 was just reflashed using the RIBless cable and some adapter. No smart RIB was used.

This information is available on the main Batlabs site, but simply:

First of all, if it's under warranty, send it to Motorola, have it done free. But if you'd prefer to do it yourself...

You need the HLN9742 Flash upgrade adaptor. I believe the schematic for it is on Batlabs as well.

Of course you also need the flash upgrade software. The latest version CPS has it, version 3.01.03, but they are up to 5.00.03 now, downloaded from Motorola Dealer Support. No big difference to most people though. No SmartRib necessary.

I use the Ribless cable exclusively, but ONLY if the original firmware is 2.0 or above. If it is version 1, use the standard RIB cable only.

Be very careful with your equipment, lest you wind up with a heavily corrupted codeplug.
