Post by Sergey »

Hello,

I know that it's possible but in reality how frequently do we use a different MDC systems for RX/TX?
Thanks.

What radio are using that supports a different MDC system for TX and RX. Every radio I've encountered doesn't do that.

CDM/HT Series
Jedi Series
Radius Series

Maybe the super-save-the-world XTS/XTL type can do this? I don't know. Either way, I say no logical purpose to doing this even if they could.

eBay at it's finest:
Me: "What exactly is a 900Mhz UHF CB?"
Them: "A very nice CB at 900Mhz speed!"

The Professional Series radios can certainly support the feature.

Given that you are only allowed 4 MDC systems, the ability to mix and match does come in handy. Some things that I have used it for:
-Selecting between long and short sidetone on a per channel basis
-Selecting between pre and post ID
-Selecting the alias list the will be used when decoding IDs
-Changing the way the radio responds to Call Alerts / Select Calls / Radio Checks.

I can really add a lot of versatility to what you can make those four systems do.

Crap. Your right. I've been at work for 16 hours now, my brain is fried. I have a bunch of those in service and have programmed them myself, like I didn't know that.

Well, either way I have yet to find a use for two different MDC systems for TX & RX.

Right, I do the same thing, but thats not haveing MDC System 1 for RX and MDC system 2 for TX. You just make system 1 be PRE-ID and system 2 be POST ID.
