Hi I have never seen a Quantar/Quantro before so I am in the dark here. No books on this at all. Just received a Quantro station. Has the following modules:
Rcvr: X33AB
TX: X155AB
X132AB
Power supply TPN1186B
PA: TLE2512A15
I believe it to be 450 to 470 Mhz 110 watt.
It is on 451.075 right now.
Next: When I power it up, it takes a few seconds to lock up and start receiving. Is this proper?
Second: It goes into PA fail when receiving an on freq signal. I can hear the relay click when it repeats, then the TX module show a momentary power out then shows fail. Whether the PA is connected or exciter straight out. I can find no output sensor or feedback from any device to let the exciter/PA know whether there is a problem to cause it to shut down. Is there some thing else missing here?
The PA does apparently work. It looks like it tried to get a good amount of power out but only for a split second or so.
The PA slot in the station is empty and only has a jumper out to the big PA. Is this correct also?
I just need to know what is going on with this thing so I can peddle it.
Thanks
Steve

What are you connecting to the PA output? Make sure it is a good 50 ohm load that can hadle the power.
Do you have good voltage to the external amp? Monitor it while keying.
Also you may need to align the transmit and do a PA initialize to recalibrate the power control.
There are also some exciter/PA diagnostics available. You'll need the Quantar RSS to perform the alignment or diagnostics.

I should say this unit was taken out of service when the company went to 800 mhz and should have been taken out working.
I was powering it with the supply that is in the station and using a Bird meter with a good 50 ohm load. I tried bypassing the PA with just exciter out and it does the same thing.
