Paging Software

Post by Jim1348 »

If I want to send a text page to a person's pager, but I don't know which carrier they have, are there any webpages that will determine the carrier, or am I out of luck?

Try the software on this link that is under the Paging header:

http://nbems.com/index_files/Page347.htm

Not sure if it'll work for you or not, but its worth a shot.

That software is useful only if you know the carrier and their modem access number for TAP protocol and the baud rate and other settings for their system associated with that access number. The info on that website is specific to users on the "nbems" system.

For most large systems with TAP access you may need either the users 10 digit pager number or the CAP Code once you have determined the carriers modem access number and protocol and you are set up to access the carriers terminal.

There is no online directory of pager users. Most pagers users would be upset if such a directory existed allowing telemarketers and others to spam their pagers.

If you think you know who the carrier is and they have web page based text paging, you can try to input the pager number on their web access and see if it is accepted or you get a messge it is not a valid user on that system.
