Okay, I have a real dumb question....
So I have a CDM 1550LS UHF, and this would be the first time that I'm buying an antenna and cable for it -- What kind do I need? and the connector from the cable to the radio, what is that? I'm replacing my Kenwood TK Series radio and the antenna connector doesn't match. I was really hoping there was a kit out there somewhere, and maybe one with the connector plug already attached since i'm a bad crimper.
Thanks

The name of the connector on the back of your Motorola mobile is called a "Mini-UHF". If you're looking to just adapt from the TK series radio, Radio Shack sells a Mini-UHF to SO-239 connector that will accept the PL-259 that currently plugs into your TK series radio, and give you a compatible Mini-UHF connector that will mate with your CDM series radio. I would recommend this as a temporary fix only, however.
Radio Shack also sells a "twist on" Mini-UHF connector that will twist on to properly prepped RG-58 coax. Some will say that twist-on connectors are crap, and while I agree it isn't the most ideal thing, I've run them in my truck for over three years without any trouble.
The Mini-UHF connectors also come in crimp-on varieties, and I'm sure someone on the board here has one or two or three they could sell you. I'd recommend you buy a few, in case you make mistakes putting it on.
Good Luck!
