Cross muting on C200

Post by wavetar »

Is it possible to do cross muting with the basic C200 tone remotes? I can't find anything in the manual about it, and have a customer with a need for it.

The C200 replacement, the MC1000, can do this feature. It just seems like such an easy thing to implement, I find it hard to believe the C200 can't do it.

The remote deskset that needs to be muted would have to be able to sense the presence of the guard tone from the other remote deskset. There likely is no guard tone detector in the C200 to do this with.

You could add a cheap tone remote adapter at each remote deskset that needs to be muted. Use the PTT signal from the added remote adapter to kill the audio by opening the line with a small relay. This way the remote deskset doesn’t need to be modified.

In the RSS, under Parameters, then under Control Parameters, check the "Parallel Mute" box.

From the RSS Help file: "Enabiling this feature will cause the unit to mute the speaker, not the handset when a parallel unit is transmitting. This is useful when two or more parallel units are co-located and feedback from one unit to the other is possible. Also, when using the mic delay during transmit the audio will be heard on prallel units. Enabling this feature will prevent this."

Not too familiar with the basic unit, but it does work on the advanced deskset.
Hope it helps.

Yep, I know the Advanced unit can be programmed to do it...but the basic is not RSS programmable. There doesn't appear to be a 'factory' way.

No big deal now, I've worked around it. Thanks guys.
