i have another question for you guys ..........my present antenna is about 30-35 feet off the ground.
i have a 50 ft piece of lmr-400 and a 100ft of 1 inch heliax whch one should i be using?
if you say the heliax is it ok if the reamainder (approx) 50ft is coiled up on the ground or should i loop it around the yard?

just stick with the lmr 400. no need to use any thing bigger or better for that distance. you would lose more than ya gain in extra coax and the need for jumpers to get the job done ,, kiss = keep it simple stupid=

As long as this isn't a repeater the LMR is better. If this is a repeater you are using this feedline for, you're in for a whole different set of noise issues. That was just discussed here in the past week if you look for it.
I'm assuming you'd have told us this was a repeater though, so I'm guessing it's not.
