Weird Min II charger question

Post by n9jig »

OK, I have what appears to be a Minitor II deluxe charger with the speaker, reset button and volume control. It has Moto part # NYN8348A.

I got this charger with the Minitor II and it works fine except that the auxillary battery charging slot is the wrong size for the Min II battery. The slot is too long and too narrow.

Is this possibly actually a Minitor III charger?

Would a Min III charger work witha Min II pager?

Is the Min III battery longer and slimmer than the Min II battery?

Weird Min II charger question

Rich,

The NYN8348A is a Minitor III / Minitor IV Amplified Charger.

The Minitor III/IV pagers use two AAA NiCad batteries (1.25V each).

The battery charging slot at the back of the NYN8348A is designed to
accept the 2 AAA batteries end-to-end.

The Minitor II NiCad battery (Motorola #60-05276L01) is a 2-cell unit consisting of 2 "N" cells end-to-end. It is 2.6 Volts.
