I just put together 2 new 06's, with the new connector, they were working just fine when they left, and still are, can you provide some info as to what specific problem we may see.
Thanks,

Kilgore: Smell that? You smell that?
Lance: What?
Kilgore: Napalm, son. Nothing in the world smells like that.
Kilgore: I love the smell of napalm in the morning. You know, one time we had a hill bombed, for 12 hours. When it was all over, I walked up. We didn't find one of 'em, not one stinkin' dink body. The smell, you know that gasoline smell, the whole hill. Smelled like... victory. Someday this war's gonna end...

How did you tie them in - just cut the plugs off..
From what I have been told you get a Check Engine light with most headlight flashers..
Also - what units did you use and are the cars truly 2006 models..
I think people do not understand these cars were just released - and most are still building 2005 cars - and even cars with 2006 stickers might not be true 2006 models..

I cut the 2 wires I needed, for right and left headlight highbeams.
No SES light yet.
I used Sound Off ETQSSAFL's. The cars were 06's, 17" wheels, no broadcast antenna on the rear and a tach on the dash.
I understand it was an 06.
Also, the Ford service manual (upfitter guide) makes no mention of negative switching on these cars. But it also does not tell you what the third wire is for, DRL cuttof if so equipped.

Actually, when they make a vehicle change, they will give you a dozen reasons why, safety, fuel economy, overall appearance.
They all boil down to the same thing, the changes they make are cost savings for the manufacturer, it doesn't matter if it is a nickle a unit, that allows the CEO's to demand their 1-5 million dollar wage.

I don't think that will be necessary, Whelentech is apparently just trying to sell more Whelen products. Or he is thinking about another vehicle, because the site he will steer to is Wattco, they say nothing about special anything for the CV.

WATTCO is our Rep company - we are Factory reps for Whelen... all Whelen reps are Independant Reps and not factory per say...
You guys can post every part number for all products I do not care..
I was simply passing along the info I get becasue so many complain they are always the last to know these things...

You asked me what flasher I used, but you do not care, WTFO.
We gladly welcome any good information that you want to post, but posting for the reason to steer people to buy only YOUR product that YOU represent is short of ridiculous.
As far as people posting part #'s, since you don't care, you won't know what will or will not work, as you are only familiar with one product and don't care to know about any others.
I get a lot of info from the Wattco site, even Ford's modifier guide you have posted on your website...... you might want to try looking at it, page 51, then tell me I need your flasher.
I can't wait for your update..... to tell me that Ford is wrong, and YOUR company that YOU rep for posted the wrong info, but it's not their fault, Ford mis-represented it to you..... right?

Well not to keep a Brent bashing thread going.... but it is specifically people on boards like this with attitudes like you just showed that none of the actual factory based service groups involve themselves with these boards.
ALso you need to learn to read the post and not Read Into the posts.
I said I do not care - as in I do not mind as in I can only efectively talk about products I represent and not the competitions...

I have no idea what you are talking about here...
I never said Ford was wrong?
I never said you need to use the Whelen Product....
All I stated was the new part number for people who do use Whelen...
You having a bad day or something?

Odd..... I am on your factory based service board as well, most of the questions that I read on there, sound as though the people asking should not be doing installations, of course, that is just my opinion.WhelenTech wrote:Well not to keep a Brent bashing thread going.... but it is specifically people on boards like this with attitudes like you just showed that none of the actual factory based service groups involve themselves with these boards.

No one is bashing anyone.
You have no idea what I am talking about...... there is no specific flasher that is mentioned that is needed for this application. In the Ford modifier guide or anywhere that I can find. Unless you are considering the fact that yours may have a mating plug to the factory plug. But that feature will not cause a SES light to come on.
Not having a bad day, just don't like those that pass along incorrect advice to enhance thier sales or to make them look like something they are not.
I qoute "Just to let everyone know - the 2006 Crown Victoris requires a specific headlight flasher or you can get diagnostic light / check engine light issues."
That is total B.S., no bashing, just flat wrong.
I took your "I do not care" response in the correct text, go back and read your post.

Whelen is for sissy's
We only have real techs here, plug and pay not going to get it.
If I have 65 flashers in stock, we can make them work.
ETQs working fine here, best for me and my customers when they pay less and don't come back for service on them because of short life.
MCM part# 6A1.....................if you got to ask

Ok - here you go -
#1 - I do not sell direct to anyone that reads this - as 90% of people here are not in California or NV and if you are you need to be a distributor to get parts from me..
#2 - And the last time I will say it on this thread - I posted that info as info only - not with any other reason...... in the future I will refrain from passing along this kind of info beasue it is not worth all the typing..
If we are guoting:
I qoute "Just to let everyone know - the 2006 Crown Victoris requires a specific headlight flasher or you can get diagnostic light / check engine light issues."
That is total B.S., no bashing, just flat wrong.
BS you say - why did we bring one out then?? Changes were made to the flasher internally and we added the plug for installer convience - how is that BS...
And just to let you know - many people here - and ALOT more on elightbars shoudl not be doing installs - but at least with some help from helpful people they can be told how to do it corectally - if they do it or not is their problem.
Once again a helpful note on a board is taken compleatly out of context....how about posting photos of installs you have done or typing to those who need help vs. arguing with me about product sales... I do not sell - my Business card says Regional Service Technician - Not Sales...
But if you want to continue to argue with me - feel free I am a downright pro at it....

Hmm Interesting......
If that is true - that is what I was told - and also what my customers had told me was the truth...
So much for trusting people..
I am not sure what flashers you use - but most of the service bullitins I have seen called that the issue - it was a feedback issue...
What have you been told?

I stated which flashers we use.
I have not seen a service bullitin about this issue, as you have stated, most people are still building 05's, there are few 06's out, there are no TSB's as of yet on the 06's.
My source is straight out of Detroit, if there were an issue other than a plug change, I am sure it would have been made known.
I read the elightbars forum, seems like most of them are in the dark, some say it will work, some say it won't.
Think about it, it's only 12v+ into a pair of leads, the other end goes to the high beam, we are talking about a positve switched circut, not a whole lot to go wrong. Or we can all just be scared of it and think "what if".
The only possible problem may be the flash rate, if indeed there is some type of feedback, but if that were the case, you couldn't use the highbeams, because there would be feedback.
We are beating a dead horse, I think any of the name brand flashers will work just fine on these cars, some will be a direct plug in, some will require to be hard wired in, I think you'll find that the SES light is an urban legend with any other flasher.
