Looking for a little CDM1550LS/HT1250LS clarity...

Post by mpfeifer »

Hello,

I'm in the process of trying to purchase some CDM1550LS mobiles, and HT1250LS portables for my business. I have had it with NextHELL, so it's time to try something new.

I'm going on a UHF LTR trunking system. I want the ability to use MDC1200 signaling for unit ID, Call Alert, etc. I have searched this site high and low, and all I've done is confused myself even more.

The radios in question are:

CDM1550LS - m/n AAM25RKF9DU5AN
HT1250LS - m/n AAH25RDH9DU5AN

I've seen some question as to whether or not these units will be able to do MDC signaling. When I look at the 'Model Specific Info' on the Bat site, the m/n for the HT isn't even valid!

I'm so confused, can someone clear this up for me?

Thanks!

Matt

The entire "LS" line can do MDC signalling in LTR systems regardless of model, so it may not be a concern for you at all. The confusion comes in when talking about using MDC in conventional systems...then you have to start looking at whether it's an "LS" or an "LS+"...and needing the model# to end in either "6AN" for the mobiles & "7AN" for portables to do conventional MDC, etc. You won't have problems as long as you only want MDC on LTR.

Beautiful! Thanks Todd.....

Oh, and one other question.... will the MDC features work in Talk Around mode, or is this essentially become a conventional channel?

I'm new to trunking, can you tell?

Right, 'talk around mode' is what I meant by 'conventional systems'. Basically, if you want MDC to work in talk around, you need the radios to be "LS+" and the mobile model# must end with "6AN", and the portable must end with "7AN".
