Last nigh while playing, I realized that my channel rotary in a Saber I will go to either 15 or 16 channels, but there are only 12 in the radio. If I remember correctly there was something on batlabs or the batboards showing how to program these "extra" channels and it involved a little hex editing.
Can anyone drag up a link for me? I searched but to no avail.

that wont do you any good ... you cant program more than 12 channels in the saber I
even if you tell it that it is a saber 2 or 3 and try it that way , that wont work either ... the saber 2 + only does up to 12 banks of 12 channels ...
other than that .. the channels tht you get after 12 are channels that you allready have programmed into the radio .. i think it starts at channel 4 and goes up from there ..until you get back to channel 1.
you can do stuff like that with the syssaber .. but not much ...

Aside from the standard channel assignments, to attampt to gain more than 12 per zone isn't a reality, the channel switch may have the detents that 'allow' rotation past 12, but I have never been able to gain 'extra' channels once I removed the 'stop' and turned the switch past 12.
Saber II's could be programmed with several configurations, with 120 being the top end, and then down to 72, and then finally, to 48, with 36 available IF you have scan option enabled(one zone is lost for the scan option).
Saber IIs that can be programmed with 120 channels were Saber IIIs in a II case, but had an 8K front.
The 2K option had several restrictions mask programmed into it, and no matter how recent your RSS was, you can't program specific options into your radio, like selectable MDC...pre/post/both, you were stuck with PRE all the time.
Not to mention the radio lock feature, it's also not available on low CORE value Sabers either....None of my 5D CORE radios support the lock feature, if you can use this, you would be able to store a password within the option, most can't.
You can lock the keypad with the buttons, but there is no password available to secure it from use if it is stolen, all they would have to do, is scroll to the LOCK feature and then use the SELECT button to switch it to UNLOCKED to bypass this.
Scan lists are also less than 12 channels for some reason, they allow only 10, with a priority to get 11.
This is why I prefer selectable scan, I can manually select the channels I need to scan, and forget the rest, and it's always reconfigurable on the fly as well, much more user friendly.
If you need more channels than your radio's maximum, get a newer radio and forget trying to modify the Saber to gain 'extra' channels, it will cause more grief than it's worth.
If you can program 10 zones, you have 120 channels available, get a Saber III case and you're all set, then you can make use of selectable scan options as you'll have a full keypad to enter your channel data with.
Enterprize.....One to beam up!
