MCS2000 Weird Beep and No TX

Post by cfdeng3 »

We have a MCS2000 remote mount radio. The radio has an intermittent problem that doesn't allow the radio to TX. We have bought a new mic and changed the antenna with no luck. This beep that comes out of the radio is intermittent and sounds "SICK". It does not sound like any other beep I have heard out of one of these radios.

Another clue is I have been told someone adjusted the squelch a time back in the radio. Would it make sense for me to reblast the radio with the original program??

Thanks for all your help!!!

Blowing in a prior codeplug archive will not restore the alignment settings. I'd have the radio benched by a qualified tech. If the radio is mounted in a vehicle or piece of apparatus, I'd also take a look at the power supply.

What radios do you own?: HT1550's, X9000's, CDM1550's

when it does this do the lights or display dim like there is a big power draw? i've heard weird noises come out of other radios like that when the antennae is grounded out, make shure the whip isn't hitting anything. when it does this, put a meter across the coax and make shure it isn't grounding out. also check to make shure there are no cuts in the cable for the remote head.
