SPECTRA SECURENET

Post by adfradiotech »

Hi Everyone,

I have a D43KXA7J5AK with remote head. The radio contains the
HLN-6000B Carrier Board with a TRN-9843A (DES) module. I have
attempted to load a key into the radio and continually it fails.

The T3011DX KVL and cable with mic adapter are good. I loaded
a ASTRO (mobile) with no problems, as well as a SYTEMS SABER
Portable, both will go secure and communicate with no glitches.

Does anyone have a suggestion on why the SPECTRA will not take
the Key Load.

Thanks in advance for any help. Joe

Remote mount you stated. Where are you trying to load the key through? The control head or the drawer unit?

Hi fella's,

Scott, yes the RSS has SECURENET enabled.

Jason, I tried loading via the head, then tried loading at the drawer.

UPDATE: The key loaded successfully at the drawer. However,
I cannot receive an encrypted transmission. The unit does transmit
encrypted fine. I tested a second radio and had the same results.

I'm stumped as to why they won't receive. Both radio's are identical
in type, model, and codeplug.

Give me your thoughts..... Thanks a bunch. Joe

Yes it will only load via the drawer unit in any remote mount application. The remote cable isn't set up for it.
As far as your receive issue it may have to do with service settings. Also in the codeplug do you have the XL encryption selected or not? Just a thought there but it should be off since its only DES.

When another radio is transmitting in secure what does the spectra do while it recieves. Does the receive indicator blink and the radio not unute or does it do nothing at all?

Jason,

The receiver does unmute. The unmistakeable hash noise occurs
during the transmission of the signal. The busy light does come on
and flashes.

Great on the info that the fill can only be done at the drawer, at least
that is solved.

Should "XL" be disabled ????

I will try that and see what happens.

Thanks. Joe

are the other radios XL ??? , the radio should receive the incripted signal even if it is disabled in rss ... as long as it has the board and is loaded with the correct key , it should receive it .

and im guessing that since the other radios receive the encripted signal from your radio and not in return ... it sounds like they have des-xl modules in them .

the other radios will receive des only , even if they are xl .

WilliamH,

Thanks for the reply. YES, the other radios are XL. Guess I will
have to get XL modules for the SPECTRA's if that is the issue.

The benefits of XL, however slight will take precedence.

Thanks for all your help.

Hi,

Thanks for the query. NO, the radio has not had any special alignment.

The radio does have a TRN--9843A (DES) hybrid installed. All of the
other DES-XL radios can copy the Spectra, however the spectra does not
copy the DES-XL transmitters. From what I've been told the DES only
will not receive the DES-XL, which is what is happening. I have done a
test between two (2) of the DES only spectras, and they work between
themselves.

Any suggestions, other than I need the DES-XL hybrid ???

I think you answered your own question when you said "Any suggestions, other than I need the DES-XL hybrid ???" The answer is you NEED DES-XL to talk to the other radios.

Jason,

Thanks for the help. I wish to thankyou again for your earlier
assist with getting the key to load. The only hard part was climbing in the trunk of the car to get to the radio to do the fill.

If you know of anyone who has the DES-XL hybrids for a spectra
let me know.

Thanks again. Joe
