How to open a M1225

Post by BikerScout »

I have a M1225 and the mic plug will not work unless I move the plug around just right.
So my question is how do I open this radio? I don't see any screws. I don't want to start anything until I am sure.

You basically pry off the control head, using a special tool that Motorola supplies with the remoting kits. This will give you the willies the first time you do it, but it works.

Bryan,
Remove your volume control knob (pulls off) With the heat sinks facing up at the center of the radio towards the front there is a plastic tab. Push this tab down toward the heat sink and slide the top plastic off. A word of caution though when you slide the radio back together make sure you don't catch the speaker wire on the rear latch. Once you have it apart you'll see what I'm talking about.

May the Schwarz be with you.
