Getting a HT1250 flashed to the newest: big mistake?

Post by Jammer »

I read somewhere here or somewhere that flashing a 1250 to the latest firmware means it can't be programmed with R06.04.00... is that true?

I understand I can't update the firmware with just a RIBless cable, so I was considering another LMR for the firmware update. But if I can't program the radio with R06.04.00 then I'm screwed.

Any truth to this? Was I heading for a foolish mistake?

Firmware version & CPS version have nothing to do with one another. If you can read the radio currently with 6.04.00, then after you upgrade it you will still be able to read it.

Only if the radio is written to with a higher version CPS will your 6.04.00 not continue to work.

I work for a MSS and I have had no problem with the professional series and backwards programming.

The HT1250 is NOT like the Astro line which is not backwards compadible with previous CPS versions once you write the radio.

HT750/1250/1550 is backwards compadible with older CPS software versions.

OK, so with firmware R01.00.01 I can use CPS 06.04.00 to read/write to the radio without corrupting it?

Someone either here or on another board wrote that once he flashed to the latest firmware he was unable to write to the radio with 06.04.00

Since I don't know what was an original feature and a new one in 06.04.00 I was concerned that if I tried to program frequencies into the radio with 06.04.00 CPS to the old firmware I might corrupt the CP. So a newer CPS will write to an old firmware radio without problems.

And if I upgrade to the newest firmware, I should still be able to read/write to the radio using 06.04.00 then. Correct?

Depending on what features the firmware carries any CPS should be able to read/write to the radio, in professional series at least.
