I am thinking about buying a VHF MTS2000. Will the MTS2000 top display 48 channel radio decode MDC1200 IDs on the display or do I need to go with the full DTMF keypad version? Also, are most of the recent MTS2000 radios being sold with QCII enabled, or is this something I will need to be looking for when I buy? Thanks for any help guys.

Your going to have to make sure that MDC is installed in it - the MTS series does have Flashcodes that enable/disable software features. (works the same way as the Astro series radios).

I believe there are PRE-flashport MTS series radios, and then there are Flashport MTS portables. Most MTX series radios from what I have been told can be upgrade to MT/MTS.

Be sure you've read up on the toolproofing error before experimenting too much.

I don't know exaclty what Q option would have to be enabled for MDC decode to work. Can anyone enlighten us?

Well, I answered my own question. I bought a couple of top display MTS2000 that were flashed for stat-alert. Low and behold, they will actually decode and display the raw MDC1200 ID of both PTT-ID and call-alert.

I can tell you that "most" mts2000's out there that I have seen don't have QCII in them. It is a flash option, and is included in the H101,G101,H169 flash package. I have had a few of mine flashed for this, for FD use. Hope that helps some.
