Maxtrac in 01 Blazer?

Post by Bail »

I am having trouble picking a spot to mount my maxtrac.

I already got crap in the center console

So I was thinking of putting the radio IN the center console under the arm rest

I Figured it would be a good place for it since I don't find myself messing around with the radio that much. My question is If the heat will ruin the radio because of it being enclosed inside the console?

Any suggestions or ideas would help.

be careful drilling around inside the console because alot of the airbag triggers and sensors are in consoles of several vehicles.

There isn't any in the blazer that I know of. The airbag wires are in the dash (From the passengers bag to the fuse panel) and the rear sensors wire is in with the harness. Plus I Dynamated the truck so there isn't any wires Under the console.

I plan to put it Under the arm rest now.
I've made a cad drawing and soon as I get some time with the truck I will make it to scale.

How about putting it where the slide out tray/cig lighter is?
If not deep enough, you could remote head it.

They run warm just on receive, and HOT on tx, so I would fan that compartement if you put it there...

I would Love to!!
But I heard those kits are expensive.

Soon as I get my radio in I will see if it could make my own.
I am a metal fabricator so If I have to make a back for it. I will

Has anyone ever made a kit on their own?

I have one of the remote mount kits in my truck...

All they are are a ribbon cable with connectors on either end. Shouldn't be too hard to make one up.

I have an '02 Jeep Grand Cherokee... talk about NO ROOM to mount anything, and I have the same problem as you, I have a Sirius receiver mounted on one side of the sonsole, no room for anything else
