Another Spectra Problem, anyone got a codeplug?
If anyone has a saved codeplug for a D44KMA7JA5AK or can tell me what the heck might be wrong with this one let me know.
Upon powering it up it displays self chk and the xmit and busy led's light, as normal. But then it goes to displaying the channel name and the xmit led stays on for another 15-20 seconds. Only the volume and dim works, none of the other control head buttons work.
Any ideas?

No good. Just complains that Software Versions Do Not Match and then dumps me back to the menu.
I tried the Clone and it does the same thing.

This radio is whacked.
It's a 403-433 split, ok no problem, i set it to such using bitbanger and changed the value on the MLM to match.
The radio powers up and passes the self check and the xmit light stays on for a little while then goes off all by itself. No error codes and none of the front panel buttons work except volume and dim, the others give the boop tone when pressing them though they are programmed for functions.
So, i went and changed the bandsplit to 450-482 and then it would take a different codeplug. Of course the radio powers up to Fail 001 because the VCO is out of lock due to the bandsplit change. But everything seems to function fine, except of course transmit and receive, but all the front panel buttons respond now.
It appears the Command Board and MLM are ok, as well as the control head, but there is something wrong with the RF board or something causing the xmit light to stay on when programmed for the correct split and frequencies.
Oh well. I was just hoping to get it working to sell, now it will be available for sale or trade on here, posting in a few.

Is it possible that you have the wrong interconnect board in it? There are 2 versions of the interconnect. One works with the Advanced heads, and the other doesn't. HLN6066 comes to mind for the one that doesn't work. And the current ones for the advanced heads are HLN6245.
Something to check to be sure though. If you have an older one and it is locking the radio into transmit you just need to cut a trace on that interconnect and it'll work again. Should be on the Spectra page for the main site IIRC.

I thought about that, this is just a standard control head though. And it's a 6066 with the four pins removed to make it a 6285.
I have an actual 6285 as well and i tried that in there too thinking it might be the interconnect.
But, as i mentioned the control head works ok when the radio is programmed for the incorrect split, it shows Fail 001 but all radio functions work. If i program it for the actual split than it craps out. So there might be something wrong with the rest of the radio, rf board, vco, whatever.

Yep, i guess all the simple things are ruled out!
Oh well, someone will want it for parts, it has a good command board, MLM though its an older version, and a pretty good A5 control head.

Try http://WWW.CodePlugSuperSite.Com for codeplugs, and Check the power cable it may be lose.
There isn't anything super about that website. There is hardly anything there, and every one that i have downloaded are trash that won't load up correctly in RSS.
Maybe it's the way they are being saved out of the RSS, i don't know.
And it's not the power cable, the radio is powering up just fine other than the VCO being out of lock when programmed with the wrong bandsplit. Program it with the correct bandsplit and it just locks up with the xmit light stuck on for 20-30 seconds.
Anyway, its up for sale or trade if anyone wants it for parts.
