Astro Portable Programming Question

Post by High_order1 »

I have a 386 laptop, Rib, astro cable. I have programmed other series on this platform, no problem.

I am using Lab, and it is saying there is a timeout when I try to read the radio.

I know the port is right, because I get a different error if I turn the radio off and try to read it (this makes no difference on three of the four port options).

I see the radio blink, and read self test, so I *think* they are at least trying to talk.

Any ideas what is happening here?

What kind of Astro portable are you working with, and what version of Lab are you trying to use with this radio?

Are you maybe using a regular Saber programming cable? The Astro version has a couple of pins switched around...

:o

You know, I have NO clue which version of lab I am in. (YES, I know, it's on the splash screen.) I'll go look.

Don't know much about the radio. There is no sticker on the back. A buddy got it in a pallet of crap from a local gov auction. It does power up, though.

I have very little to do with sabers, besides lusting after them from afar, so this is new territory for me.

I will go check which rev. I have.

Far as cables, I was *pretty* sure you add this addon db25 shell for astro, and delete for saber/systems saber. Wonder if I got that backwards? I'll test it when I drag all the crap out tomorrow.

Thanks!

it is more than likely that you will need a version of CPS to program this radio.
