Post by k2nnj »

Can I program my HT1250 to alert like my minitor III does? If so how?

Thanks

Yes, you can. Set up a Quick Call II signalling system with the correct tones. Then, setup a personality with your radio frequency info and use this QCII signalling system for the receive channel.

I generally make it a carrier squelch channel (some departments page with PL/DPL but many do not so they don't deafen those sitting in the patrol cars, fire engines, or ambulances) and I usually mark it transmit inhibitted so you don't accidentally start transmitting when waiting for a page.

I'm not familiar with the term "knock down mode" so I'm not quite sure what the question is either. If you can explain knock down mode, I'll try to help more.

Its pretty much as in the post above.

You have to setup a QCII signalling system with your department's tones. Then, setup a channel in your radio with the correct receive frequency -- I recommend it be transmit inhibited but that's up to you -- and use the QCII signalling system you just setup on this channel.

When your radio is listening to this paging channel, it will beep when the correct tone sequence is received and then open up so you can hear any voice message.

Okay. Sorry, I'm misunderstanding you.

When you ask "how does that programming work" what are you looking to change?

Ah - okay.

Basically, once you have the usual programming setup -- radio interface box (RIB) to connect radio to computer, the specific cable to go from the RIB to the radio, and the right programming software from Motorola -- you just have to set the options in the software.

You can't program it using the front panel buttons as you can with the scanners you list in your signature.

The HT1550 does have an option for being front-panel programmable but that needs a special battery to unlock the feature plus the radio has to be setup to allow it as well, which can only be done via the computer software. Even then, what you can change using just the radio is pretty limited compared to all the options available via the computer software.

Can anyone provide me with the link to the motorola site that provides info on how to legally purchase the RSS, its cost and terms of the license. I can find no info about RSS on their site.

Thanks
