dual head spectra

Post by Richard Collier »

I have a hi power vhf spectra. What is needed to make it a dual control head unit. I do have software so that is no problem, do I just need the 4378b cable and another head which I have. I presume It plugs into the DB 25 pin in the locking handle? Need some help on this one. :( :-?

Yes you can just plug in another control head to the second db25, it will work like a mirror, (if you change volume at one head it will change the volume on the second head) or you can set it up in the rss for dual head, an you need to add a F/R (front/rear) button on each head, when your operating at the front head you press the F/R button, an it gives you control at your control head, so you change the volume in the front, and you go back to the other head and press F/R it will still be at the volume you left it before changing the front head, but make sure your not giving power for the second head via the green an orange wires it will burn you control head.

I would look here http://www.open.org/~blenderm/ for the correct info. It will let you know if the C/H you have has the correct firmware to work as a rear head.

I also sent you a PM about a rear C/H cable, and rear head I have FS.

Dual Head Spectra

Something to remember, Motorola usually provides two small relay pods on the dual head set-ups that plug into the VIP pins to switch the speaker off on the unused head. With both heads on maximum power there may be an issue with too much power being dissipated through the audio amp. May shorten the life. Just be aware...best of luck.
