Changing heads on a hi power spectra

Post by Richard Collier »

I want to change a control head on a spectra radio. In the software I try to read the radio and get can not access the s9000e control head. I can read the radio with a A9 head fine but need to change the head to a A5. Can this be done, I have v6 do I need lab to do this? But when read with the A5 head I can not. the head is good and works well with another radio. Any help would be great.

What radios do you own?: Radar Range

You would need lab functions in order to do that. Or you would have to "force feed" a codeplug into the radio. If you have lab, you'll either be able to change the control head type, or bit bang the radio for a different control head (through several bits for the model and control head type).

I have tried the opposite an it worked, I had a t83-----a5 and programmed it with an a9 control head, it may take a couple of tries or to clone (F5) but it works. Always make a backup of the good code plug before you start playing.
