Maxtrac 800 problem

Post by ToyBoat »

Hello to the board members.

I recently bought a Maxtrac 800 from a flea market ($10.00)

D35MWA5GB6AK Version B6
RF Board #HLF9122A
Logic Board# HLN5172A
5 pin accessory connector

Buttons on front panel: System, Subfleet, Phone, Call, Select
(8 channels on Subfleet button)

I powered the radio up and it beeps(test), seems ok.

Hooked it up to a Bird Meter and keyed up (PTT) and get a "LOW TONE" sound, also NO power reading on the meter. What could be wrong with this radio? anyone? Thanks.

I'm no expert, but when I switch my MTX9000 to an out of area system, I get that tone when I TX. It's not getting the control channel.

Maybe your's is setup for a trunking system still?

That's all it is. The radio is a trunking radio and it won't transmit unless it's in range of the trunking system programmed into it.

Blank the board, replace the firmware with conventional, initialize it, and it'll work just fine. Should make an excellent 900 MHz receiver if you replace the front end filters.
