CDM 1250 and MDC TX alias

CDM 1250 and MDC TX alias

I can not program a CDM 1250 to transmitt an alias and not the 4 digit ID number. What are the steps?

the alias is not transmitted by the radio. the alias must be programmed into the receiving radios so that when it receives PTT ID "1234" it displays "TRUCK 1" or whatever. if you have a large fleet, this can be a BIG pain. i try not to let people know the radios even do that because every time you add or change a radio ID in the system, you'd have to go around and program EVERY radio to display an alias for that ID.

which is why it is much easier to just go and create all the possible (and potential) radio aliases in each one when you originally program it...so that when you have to reassign one, you can just edit the MDC ID for that unit...as long as the radio sends the right MDC packet, it will ID on all the units as such (as long as the MDC ID is on the call list)
